Festa del Vi Novell (New Wine Fair), Santa María del Camí

New wine sold on barrels, in bulk, is a tradition that is maintained in very few places and in Santa Maria del Camí it is a tradition that has endured over the years and has allowed the product to be dignified among the local consumer. The creation in 2017 of the Vi Novell de Santa Maria brand allows this product to be extended to all markets where Santa Maria wine is present.

In this way, all young wine bottled in Santa María will carry the capsule with the image and the first place where it can be tasted will be at the Festa del Vi Novell. This festival has been celebrated since 2003 in order to promote the wine of Santa Maria del Camí, with a long wine-growing tradition.

The festival begins with the arrival at the Plaza de la Vila of the cart carrying the pine branches, which are delivered to the wineries of the town to be hung high on their main portal. An old custom to announce the start of the sale of young wine.
