Fira del Pebre Bord (Red Pepper Fair), Felanitx

Mallorca’s vibrant red pepper is the star of this fair which holds everything from cooking demonstrations to traditional dances and workshops. The fair takes place on the third Sunday of October in Felanitx. Mallorca’s red pepper is a key ingredient in some of its most iconic foods. The paprika used in Sobrassada, for instance, is made by grinding down the Tap de Cortí variety of pepper, which is cultivated and processed only on the island.
This agricultural fair is an opportunity to soak up a relaxed and typically family-friendly Mallorcan atmosphere. Although the programme is yet to be published, this day normally sees local bars and restaurants presenting creative uses of the red pepper. Traditional music, dance, theatrical performances, giants and workshops for children always feature at this annual event.
