Fira de Tardor (Autumn Fair), Muro
With the fall of the first leaves in autumn, the Fira de Tardor arrives, a fair that coincides with the second Sunday in November.
Since 2007, the autumn fair has been themed around the pumpkin, a very identifying autumn fruit of the town of Muro. The activities begin on Friday with a variety of cultural and gastronomic events with a mini-train route to taste pinxos made with pumpkin through different bars in the town. On Saturday afternoon, the wine tasting takes place in the Cloister of the Convent. On the other hand, in front of the town hall, the little ones enjoy the Cucorba performance and then the procession and the pumpkin lantern contest and the fire run of the Dimonis de Sa Pedrera are celebrated.
The streets of Muro are filled with stalls and people take the opportunity to buy Christmas nougat and in the past, people bought the utensils for slaughtering, such as spices and red prebás or knives from the butcher, who still sells them on the day of the fair.
Another characteristic event of the Fira de Tardor that you cannot miss is the Pumpkin Competition, for the heaviest pumpkin, with two types of prizes for native and foreign pumpkins, which has been held since 2007.
It is worth noting the weight of the heaviest pumpkins and winners of the competition in recent years: 140 kg with the native pumpkin modality and 334kg with the non-native pumpkin modality.
