Fira de Sant Tomàs-Mostra de Matances, Sineu
In Sineu, the Matanza and Santo Tomás festivals are closely intertwined and represent important cultural events in the life of the village. These events combine agricultural, culinary and religious traditions to create a unique celebration that allows you to experience the atmosphere of old Mallorca.
The Matanza festival, associated with the traditional slaughter of pigs and the production of meat products, takes place during the cold season. This process represents an important rural custom on the island. In Sineu and other parts of Mallorca, families gather to process the meat together, preparing sobrasada, botifarró and other traditional sausages. This is followed by feasts and celebrations with local specialties, wine and sweets.
Santo Tomás Festival (Fira de Sant Tomàs) – this event brings together many local people and tourists to buy traditional products and crafts. The fair is accompanied by music, dance and cultural performances, creating a festive atmosphere. At this time of year in Sineu you can taste traditional Mallorcan dishes such as ensaimada, toast with sobrasada and local cheeses.
